  3. About Paul Maritz

    Paul Maritz was a senior executive at Microsoft from 1986 to 2000, where he served on the 5-person executive management team. He is currently founder and CEO of Pi Corporation which (effective Q1 2008) is being acquired by EMC Corporation, where Paul will become President and General Manager of the newly formed Cloud Infrastructure and Services Division.

    He sponsors third-world development projects and is the chairman of the board of the Grameen Foundation.

    His last position at Microsoft was as vice president of the Platforms Strategy and Developer Group. Born and raised in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), he attended the University of Cape Town where he studied computer science. Prior to working at Microsoft, he worked for Intel developing early tools to help developers write software for the then-new x86 platform.

    Paul helps make a get together fun with his combination of intellectual knowledge and a great sense of humor. He has three children and lives with his wife in Mercer Island, Washington, USA.
